Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I download Jilo Studio?
Ready-made versions are published on the GitHub releases page. The first release is being prepared; until then you can build the app from the source code.
Which Macs does it run on?
Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and later) running macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Intel Macs are not supported.
Does it need an internet connection or an account?
No. Editing and on-device speech recognition work offline, with no sign-up. The internet is needed only to download the speech or voice models once, and if you choose a cloud AI engine yourself.
How do I turn on cloud recognition and translation?
Open Settings ▸ AI, choose Google Gemini or OpenAI as the engine, paste your API key and press Check Key. You can get a key at aistudio.google.com or platform.openai.com. Before the first time audio or text is sent, the app asks for your permission.
Where are my API keys stored?
Only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/com.rustamguloff.jilostudio/ai.json, readable only by your user account. Keys never go into projects or logs.
Will my FilmCraft projects open?
Yes. Jilo Studio uses the same .fcproj project format.
How do I report a problem?
Open an issue on GitHub or send an email. Please attach the log: Help ▸ Reveal Log Files.
