GetTheFile

GetTheFile is a downloader for Mac. It saves videos from YouTube, VK, Rutube, Dzen, TikTok and hundreds of other sites, .m3u8 streams and any file from a direct link. No ads, no accounts, no data collection.

Features

  • Video by link: preview, quality up to 8K with estimated size, MP4, WEBM, MP3 and M4A formats
  • Any file from a direct link — archives, disk images, documents, installers. Downloads run in several threads (up to 16) and resume where they stopped after a dropped connection, a pause or a restart
  • Playlists and link lists from .txt and .md files: pick items, set one quality and format for all, save to a separate folder
  • HLS streams (.m3u8): quality selection, separate audio track, AES-128 encryption, assembly into MP4 without re-encoding. For servers that require headers, you can set Referer and Cookie
  • A queue of up to four simultaneous downloads, history, completion notifications, dark and light themes
  • Everything it needs (Python, ffmpeg, the yt-dlp engine) is installed by the app itself on first launch — no Terminal, no administrator password

Free. macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. The app is signed and notarized by Apple and distributed directly, outside the App Store.
